Why is the Business conducting this recall?
As part of our commitment to product safety and loyalty to our consumers, we are voluntarily recalling affected units to provide a free in-home repair.

What is the issue that prompted the recall?
This recall is due to the potential that an improperly installed freezer handle could become loose. A loose handle could detach while a consumer is pulling on it to open the freezer, and a consumer may lose their balance and fall.

What does the repair involve?
The Company is offering a free in-home repair of the affected units. Service technicians will remove the existing freezer handle, replace the attachment fasteners, and properly install the original handle.

Which model and serial numbers are affected?
The affected models are: GFE26JYMKFFS, GFE26JYMNFFS, GNE27EYMKFFS, GNE27EYMNFFS, GNE27JYMKFFS, and GNE27JYMNFFS. The serial numbers for the affected models begin with one of the following two letter combinations: DR, FR, GR, HR, LR, MR, RR, SR, TR, VR, ZR, AS, DS, FS, GS, HS, LS, MS.

How can a consumer determine if a refrigerator is affected by this recall?
The recalled refrigerators can be identified by locating the model and serial numbers, which are printed on a label on the top of the left side of the interior of the refrigerator compartment and matching them with the list above.

Can consumers continue to use their refrigerators while awaiting a repair?
Consumers can continue using their refrigerators. If the handle is loose, a consumer can open the freezer by gripping the edge of the freezer door where the flexible rubber sealing gasket meets the metal freezer door.
